Hello from the Other Side

One of the greatest aspects of computers is their ability to transport and relay information. This simple fact is what has allowed for the instant digital communication we have today with people all over the world. Just think of all the ways we virtually interact with one another daily (voice calls, video, text messaging, etc). All of this is possible due to the fact that each computing device has an IP address and is able to find other computing devices over the Internet.

Thinking about networks on a smaller scale now, imagine if there was only two computers and no Internet. Would we be able to communicate with each other using these computers? If we could connect them somehow, then we would have a network. We would have communication. But how would we even go about doing that?
