I/O: Understanding Interfaces

Up to this point we've learned about hardware and we've learned about software. A question now arises, how do the two work together? How do we combine the physical and the virtual to work together? Or how about the virtual and the virtual? One of the key concepts to understand when answering this question is interfaces — a common platform at each level of abstraction in the computer system where separate components can interact. In this lesson, we will be discussing various interfaces and learning how they work.
